Rodney Gove is the Set Play Coach

In a recent game between Everton and Tottenham at Goodison with Tottenham leading 2-1 Everton won a free kick from a wide poition.  Tottenham set up their defence as the photos below show and seconds later the ball was in the back of their net costing them 2 valuable points.  This type of free kick often leads to absolute carnage in the defence and this was no exception 20 players all running towards goal all tangled up with each other.

What we need to explore here is what did Tottenham do wrong and how can they set up to defend these set plays in a better way in their next game.

This is where I come in to the picture.

Hi I am Rodney Gove and I signed for Brechin City in the late 70,s at 18 years old playing mainly as a sweeper and also in midfield. I was myself a free kick specialist once scoring 3 direct free kicks in one match with no misses. Ok the keeper wasnt Olympic standard but all were postage stamp finishes with a lick of power.  At 21 I was coaching my first team and I still play football in my 60,s and hope to play for another 10+ years with my nutrition and anti aging knowledge.

I have also made many observations about the game over the years and can offer my services as a Set Play Coach .  My ideas are all original and you wont learn them on any coaching course so this is what sets me apart from other coaches out there. If you watch free kick set ups in top level football you will see you are all doing the same things and you are all making the same mistakes, a downside from having fixed ideas on how free kicks should be defended and coaches that all preach from the same hymn sheet.  At the other end of the pitch I have found a literal penalty generating machine with 5 different legitimite ways to win penalties.
